Etching, also known as chemical milling or photochemical machining, is a advanced manufacturing process used to create complex metal parts with high precision.
The process:
Material Preparation: A metal sheet (0.02mm to 1.5mm thick) is cleaned and laminated with a photoresist film.
Imaging: The desired pattern (holes, slots, logos) is transferred onto the metal using UV light, similar to photography.
Etching: The metal is exposed to chemical etchant that dissolves unprotected areas, leaving behind a burr-free, stress-free component.
Stripping & Finishing: The protective film is removed, and the parts are cleaned and packaged.
