Stainless steel etching, also known as photochemical etching, is a subtractive manufacturing process that uses a photoresist and acid to selectively remove metal. The key steps include:
Cleaning: Stainless steel sheets are thoroughly cleaned to remove oils and contaminants.
Photoresist Coating: A light-sensitive resist layer is applied to both sides of the sheet.
Exposure: Exposed to UV light.
Developing: The exposed areas are developed to reveal the metal beneath.
Etching: The sheet is immersed in an etching solution to dissolve the unprotected metal.
Stripping: The resist is removed.
