  1. Laminar Air Flow:

    • Ensures that air moves in a single direction (laminar flow) at a consistent speed to prevent turbulence, which could introduce contaminants.
    • The airflow is typically filtered through a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) or ULPA (Ultra-Low Particulate Air) filter.

  2. Types of Air Flow:

    • Horizontal Laminar Flow: Air flows horizontally from the back of the cabinet towards the operator.
    • Vertical Laminar Flow: Air flows vertically from the top of the cabinet towards the work surface and is then expelled.

  3. Sterile Working Environment:

    • Designed to protect sensitive products or processes from airborne particles, dust, and microbes.
    • Typically used in applications requiring cleanliness but not necessarily user or environmental protection.

  4. Construction Materials:

    • Usually made of stainless steel or other non-corrosive materials to minimize particle shedding and ensure durability.
