The ICL8038 is a precision waveform generator and voltage-controlled oscillator capable of producing high-accuracy sine, square, triangular, sawtooth, and pulse waveforms with minimal external components. It offers low frequency drift with temperature (250ppm/C), low distortion (1% for sine wave), high linearity (0.1% for triangle wave), and a wide frequency range from 0.001Hz to 300kHz. The device supports variable duty cycles (2% to 98%) and high-level outputs from TTL to 28V, with simultaneous sine, square, and triangle wave outputs. Its advanced monolithic technology, utilizing Schottky barrier diodes and thin film resistors, ensures stable output over wide temperature and supply variations. The ICL8038 is suitable for applications requiring precise waveform generation, including phase-locked loop circuitry for reduced temperature drift.
