The Olycom TA510‑GE is a Gigabit Ethernet single‑fiber media converter that leverages Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology to transmit and receive data over just one optical fiber, significantly reducing infrastructure costs while extending standard Ethernet links up to 120 km over single‑mode 9/125μm fiber.
This compact device seamlessly converts 10/100/1000Mbps electrical signals from a copper RJ‑45 port (with auto‑negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX) to optical signals via an SC/FC/ST or SFP fiber interface, operating at 1310nm/1550nm wavelengths.
It delivers ultra‑low store‑and‑forward latency under 10μs, a bit error rate below 1×10⁻⁹, and an MTBF exceeding 50,000 hours, ensuring high reliability even in demanding environments.
The TA510‑GE fully complies with IEEE802.3, 802.3u, 802.3z, 802.3x, 802.1Q, 802.1p, and 802.1d standards, supports full‑duplex flow control (IEEE802.3x) and half‑duplex back‑pressure, and maintains a MAC address table of 4K entries with a 1.75M buffer.
Its rugged metal casing measures just 70×93×25 mm, weighs 160 grams, and draws less than 2.5W from a DC 5V/1A external adapter (12V optional), with an operating temperature range of 0℃ to 50℃.
Front‑panel LEDs provide instant status monitoring, and the unit can be used as a desktop device or mounted in a 14‑slot rack chassis for centralized management.
This media converter is ideally suited for telecommunications broadband access, enterprise campus backbones, IP surveillance systems, internet cafes, and industrial automation networks, delivering dependable gigabit connectivity over long distances with CE, RoHS, and FCC certifications. For specialized applications, a card‑type variant (TA510‑GE‑X) is also available for tethered drone communication systems, further extending its versatility.
