The IC697CHS783 is a front/rear mount VME Integrator Rack with 17 slots designed by GE Fanuc. This IC697CHS783 rack for IC697 PLCs is designed to work with 3rd party VME modules and I/O configurations (not including redundancy applications). The 17-slot backplane ensures easy VME module integration.
Additional features of the IC697CHS783 include 10 inch deep rear rack mounts and standard 19 inch front rack mounts. Both plug-in AC/DC and DC IC697 power supplies are acceptable. The user may also choose an external power supply; however, an adaptor module is required in this case. Also included is provision for two rack operation based on single power supply as well as for high-current configurations. An optional kit may be ordered for adding the J2 backplane or for making ribbon cable connections. There is also an optional fan assembly available for high-power modules.
Each rack configuration will take one power supply in the module to the left position; however, power supply capacity is a factor that may limit module quantity in a rack. Up to three VME modules may be used in a rack with IC697 modules. The racks’ versatility allows both 3rd party modules through the use of jumpers on the backplane to configure slots.
Integration of 3rd party modules occurs by moving the jumpers.When mounting the IC697CHS783 rack, the user must leave sufficient room for airflow, which allows the module to cool properly. This is when a rack fan assembly is useful. Mounting requirements for front and/or rear are determined by the rack ordered. Mounting flanges are already included in the rack’s side panels. It is important to remember that the power extension cable must be attached before power is applied. The extension cable should not be connected while system is operating.
The IC697CHS783 rack is a GE Fanuc VME integrator rack. The rack can easily support third-party VME modules that require 0.8 inches of installation spacing. The rack can take a maximum of 5 Volts of power. The maximum current that the users can supply to the rack is 3.3 Amps. The rack can accommodate all GE IC 697 PLC modules. On the front side, it can easily connect to a 19-inch rack, and at the rear, it can be installed in a 10-inch-deep enclosure. The integrator rack can accommodate a power supply from a single power unit.
The IC697CHS783 rack is equipped with a 17-slot backplane that can provide easy integration with other VME modules. During the mounting of the rack, enough clearance should be left around it for airflow. The rack has dimensions of 11.15 inches in height, 19 inches in width, and 7.5 inches in depth.
The IC697CHS783 rack can be configured by using a series of jumpers that are located on the backplane near each slot. This helps in flexibility during the installation. The IC697 system allows for the user configuration of the I/O point references for the modules. The rack offers module retention. It comes with molded latches that snap onto the upper and lower rails of the rack.
The IC697CHS783 rack supports an optional rack fan assembly. The fans in the integrator rack produce low noise and they are assembled by using ball bearings for extended operating life. Each rack configuration accommodates a single power supply unit in the leftmost position. The rack can be mounted both vertically and horizontally, depending upon the application needs.
