The GE Fanuc IC693MDL648 is a 48 volt DC Positive/Negative Logic Input module. This unit is to be used with the IC693-Series Programmable Logic Controller. It provides a total of 16 input points, which are grouped together and share a common power input terminal. This module has a rapid response time with 1 millisecond the maximum for both on and off response. This input module is capable of working with both positive and negative logic applications. Users can supply input devices such as limit switches and pushbuttons. They must also provide power, which has to be 48 VDC.
The LED block on top of the system shows the status of each respective input point. Row A1 has the LEDs for input points 1-8, while the status of points 9-16 are managed by row B1. The hinged cover of the input module has an insert slipped between the inner and outer surface. On the back is information on circuit wiring, while the front of the insert allows space for the user to write information on circuit identification. The blue color on the front left edge of the insert indicates that this is a DC-type module.
The IC693MDL648 module is a discrete input module made for the programmable logic controllers or PLCs that are manufactured by the GE Fanuc company. The PLC discrete input module is classified under Series 90-30 of the GE Fanuc PLCs. It is a 48 Volts DC rated positive and negative logic input device with up to 16 input points. The IC693MDL648 module features an input voltage range 0 to 60 Volts DC while the input current is rated as 4.2 milliamps. This 16-point PLC discrete input module features 34 to 60 Volts of trigger voltage while the connector type is a terminal block connector with 20 screws that are included with the module. The IC693MDL648 module also features 80 milliamps of current at 5 Volts DC or 125 milliamps of current at 24 Volts DC when it is isolated.
The IC693MDL648 module features a baseplate comprising 3 main parts. The 3 components on the baseplate include the circuit board that is mounted to the metal backplate with a plastic cover, the I/O bus expansion cables, and the dedicated I/O communication bus. The IC693MDL648 module's metal backplate features 4 holes that are used for mounting the baseplate and it also comes with the retainer slots that mount the modules. Ideally, the GE Fanuc PLC controllers feature up to 5 prewired I/O bus expansion cables. The signals on the remote baseplate backplane are optically coupled with an isolated DC-DC power supply converter, which is provided to serve as isolation for the signals from the other backplanes. The IC693MDL648 module features the power bus that connects the power supply outputs to the modules in the baseplate. Its I/O communication bus is installed with I/O modules over the bus. The bus connects to the I/O busses in the expansion and remote racks through the I/O bus expansion connectors and the cables.
