APPLICATION 

Paired Armoured Instrumentation Cable is widely used for reliable signal transmission and control systems in harsh industrial environments. Designed in accordance with EN 50288-7, this cable ensures stable performance in applications where accuracy, safety, and resistance to interference are critical.

This XLPE insulated, overall screened SWA PVC instrumentation cable is ideal for use in oil & gas, petrochemical plants, refineries, power generation, and industrial automation systems. The overall screen (Aluminium/Polyester tape with tinned copper drain wire) provides excellent protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring clear and uninterrupted signal transmission.

Thanks to its steel wire armour (SWA), the cable is suitable for direct burial, outdoor installations, and areas exposed to mechanical stress. The PVC outer sheath with oil-resistant properties makes it highly suitable for hazardous and corrosive environments, including offshore and chemical industries.

CONSTRUCTION 

The construction of this paired armoured instrumentation cable is designed to ensure reliable signal transmission, mechanical protection, and resistance to harsh industrial conditions:

1. Conductor
Stranded bare copper conductors (Class 2) for good conductivity and flexibility.

2. Insulation
Each conductor is insulated with XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene), providing excellent thermal performance, electrical insulation, and durability (up to 90°C).

3. Pairing (Twisting)
Two insulated conductors are twisted together to form a pair, which helps reduce electromagnetic interference and crosstalk.

4. Overall Screening (OS)
An overall screen consisting of Aluminium/Polyester (Al/PET) tape with a tinned copper drain wire is applied to protect against external EMI and ensure signal integrity.

5. Inner Sheath (Bedding)
A PVC inner sheath is applied over the screened pairs to provide a smooth bedding layer for the armour.

6. Armour (SWA)
Galvanized Steel Wire Armour (SWA) provides strong mechanical protection, making the cable suitable for direct burial and industrial installations.

7. Outer Sheath
A PVC outer sheath (black, oil-resistant) protects the cable from environmental factors such as moisture, chemicals, and abrasion.
