What is the difference between low light, active IR and thermal imaging?
Low light imaging requires natural light and transforms weak natural light into enhanced electronic images through image intensifiers. Active IR systems actively emit infrared light and use reflected infrared beams from targets, offering poor concealment. Thermal imaging is a passive infrared technology that detects infrared radiation differences between targets and their environment, operating without any light source and remaining unaffected by lighting conditions, night operations, or harsh environments like fog and rain.
Can you block thermal imaging?
In most cases, thermal imaging cannot be blocked. However, infrared radiation cannot penetrate walls, and glass can block IR detection. To avoid detection, concealment behind glass or walls can effectively block thermal imaging.
