This is a part of many products that we make for the USA company named Intact Idea LLC. /Flair espresso, who designs , develops , manufactures and market level espresso makers and aggregated products and tools for the specialty coffee market. They have the ideas, but no dedicated designers to support the product from concept to reality, but FCE can do, whatever realizing or cost saving.
The part is called lock ring which is used on a partial of steamer tank, it is an insert molding part, that injection molded with LCP (LIQUID CRYSTAL POLYMER) resin , and put the copper insert in the plastic during injection molding process.
Why we use this kind of rare material?
Application: Containers for electronic furnaces, Pump and valve etc
For the steamer product, since it is a tank to create the air pressure when burn on the flame ,the lock ring is used to hold the upper parts on the tank. As you know, the tank inner has quite high pressure, the lock ring will give the strong strength to hold the part to resist the inner pressure.
since it also requires screw to be created and plastic don’t be enough to hold the thread directly, so we use the copper with thread instead. The insert molding is a commonly used way in the injection molding area to create the thread.
Since there 3x inserts on each ring, With the insert molding, it no needs separate action to apply the thread on, so it both saves the actions and the cost, at least 20% saving in the cost. Meantime, the strength can fully meet customer’s quality requirement.
