HTN (High Twisted Nematic) is a variation of TN (Twisted Nematic) LCDs that offers:
Higher twist angle (about 110° to 160°, compared to 90° for TN)
Better viewing angles than standard TN
Lower cost than STN (Super Twisted Nematic)
Faster response time than STN
Common in segment LCDs, not dot-matrix or graphic LCDs
In positive mode LCDs:
Segments appear dark on a light background in transmissive or reflective displays.
Depending on the backlight and polarizer configuration, backlit displays often show light segments on a dark background.
Requires positive voltage bias to activate segments.
