Drain coolant – Drain the cooling system to a level below the thermostat housing
Remove the old housing – Unbolt and carefully remove the thermostat housing from the engine
Remove the old thermostat – Remove the old thermostat and any old gasket material
Clean the mounting surface – Thoroughly clean the cylinder head mounting surface, removing all old gasket material
Inspect the housing – Verify the new housing matches the old unit and has no defects
Install the new thermostat – Install a new thermostat into the housing (correct orientation)
Position the new gasket – Place a new gasket on the mounting surface or housing
Install the new housing – Position the new housing on the cylinder head
Install and torque bolts – Install bolts and tighten in a crisscross pattern to manufacturer specifiion
Reconnect hoses – Reconnect all coolant hoses to the housing
