Working Principle
The clutch release bearing (also known as "throw-out bearing") is a key component of the clutch actuation mechanism, installed on the release fork at the front of the transmission input shaft.
Disengagement Process: When the driver depresses the clutch pedal, hydraulic or mechanical force pushes the release fork forward, moving the release bearing toward the diaphragm spring fingers of the pressure plate.
Friction Reduction: The release bearing features a precision rolling bearing design — during high-speed rotation of the pressure plate, the bearing outer ring rotates with the pressure plate while the inner ring remains stationary, effectively reducing friction and wear.
Power Cut-off: The release bearing pushes the diaphragm spring, separating the pressure plate from the clutch disc, cutting off engine power transmission to the transmission for gear shifting.
Engagement Process: A return spring presses the release bearing against the release fork and returns it to its final position, maintaining a gap of approximately 3-4 mm with the end of the release lever.
