The oil pump is driven by the engine crankshaft via gears or chain, featuring a Trochoid (Gerotor) design. The pump draws oil from the oil pan through the strainer (pickup tube), pressurizes it, and delivers it through the oil filter to all engine lubrication points including crankshaft main journals, connecting rod journals, camshaft journals, and turbocharger bearings, forming a complete pressure lubrication circuit. Additionally, the oil cools pistons, reduces friction, cleans contaminants, and prevents rust.
