Product Function
The exhaust brake valve activates engine exhaust braking by closing the exhaust butterfly valve, creating backpressure for auxiliary braking. This reduces wear on service brakes for Mitsubishi heavy trucks.
Typical installation steps for exhaust brake valve:
Depressurize the air system - Drain all air pressure from the brake system
Access the valve - Loe the exhaust brake valve (usually mounted on engine or exhaust manifold)
Mark air lines - Tag or mark all air lines connected to the old valve
Disconnect air lines - Carefully remove air lines from the valve ports
Remove mounting bolts - Unbolt the old exhaust brake valve from its bracket
Clean mounting surface - Remove debris and old sealant
Apply thread sealant - Coat threads with pipe sealant prior to installation
Install new valve - Position the new exhaust brake valve and secure with mounting bolts
Reconnect air lines - Install air lines to the correct ports as marked during removal
Re-pressurize the system - Gradually build air pressure and check for leaks using soapy water
Test exhaust brake operation - Activate the exhaust brake and verify proper engagement
Road test - Confirm exhaust brake functions correctly under load
