Installation Notes
Professional mechanic installation recommended:
Locate the clutch master cylinder - Typically mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment
Remove old fluid - Use a clean suction tool to remove old fluid from the reservoir
Disconnect the hydraulic line - Carefully disconnect the hydraulic fluid line from the master cylinder; cap the line to prevent fluid loss and contamination
Disconnect the push rod - Disconnect the push rod from the clutch pedal assembly inside the cabin
Remove mounting nuts - Unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall
Remove the old assembly - Carefully remove the complete assembly from the vehicle
Bench bleed the new cylinder - Before installation, bench bleed the new master cylinder to remove air and prime the internal chambers
Position the new assembly - Install the new master cylinder on the firewall; hand-start mounting nuts
Torque mounting nuts - Tighten nuts to manufacturer torque specifications
Connect the push rod - Reconnect the push rod to the clutch pedal assembly; ensure proper free play adjustment
Connect the hydraulic line - Reconnect the hydraulic line to the master cylinder; torque the fitting to specification
Refill with fresh fluid - Fill the reservoir with the recommended brake/clutch fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4 as specified)
Bleed the clutch system - Bleed the clutch hydraulic system to remove air; use the correct procedure
Check for leaks - Inspect all connections for fluid leaks; ensure the master cylinder is not leaking
Test clutch pedal - Pump the clutch pedal; ensure firm pedal feel and proper pedal height
