Installation Procedure
Safely lift and support the front axle. Turn wheels to access the drag link
Remove the cotter pins and castle nuts from both ball joint studs
Use a ball joint separator to detach the drag link from the pitman arm and steering knuckle/tie rod
Remove the old drag link
Compare new drag link with old - verify length, taper, and thread direction
Apply anti-seize to the stud threads (optional)
Install the new drag link - hand-tighten the castle nuts
Torque the castle nuts to manufacturer specification (typically 150-200 Nm for heavy trucks)
Tighten further if needed to align cotter pin hole - do not back off. Insert new cotter pins
Grease the ball joints using a grease gun until fresh grease exits the boots
Lower vehicle and perform a wheel alignment (toe adjustment may be affected)
Test drive - check for straight-line stability and no clunking
