The 8-97105872-0 head gasket is a verified direct-fit replacement for ISUZU NPR66 / NKR66 / NPS66 / NQR / NKS series trucks equipped with 4HF1 / 4HF1-O diesel engines. As the core sealing component of the combustion chamber sealing system, it is installed between the cylinder block and cylinder head, sealing the combustion chamber, coolant passages and oil galleries to maintain correct engine compression, cooling and lubrication.
The cylinder head gasket is compressed between the engine block and cylinder head, forming a static seal for the combustion chamber, coolant passages and oil galleries. It must withstand combustion pressures exceeding 160 bar while compensating for minor deformation of the block and head during thermal cycling. The 8-97105872-0 gasket uses a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) construction, achieving reliable sealing through the elastic deformation of multiple thin steel layers and surface coatings. Compared with traditional asbestos or composite gaskets, MLS offers higher pressure resistance, heat resistance and creep resistance. The 4HF1 is a 4.3L inline-four diesel engine with a 113.5 mm bore, widely used in ISUZU NPR/NKR series trucks and Hitachi construction equipment.
Replace the head gasket when any of the following symptoms appear:
⚠️ Critical Inspection Note: ISUZU service manuals require that the cylinder head gasket be replaced, never reused, when the cylinder head is removed. Check block and head flatness and clean all mating surfaces before installation.
Cylinder head bolts must be torqued in the specified sequence (4HF1 cylinder head bolt base torque approximately 2.0–2.4 kgf·m, combined with angle tightening — confirm with the workshop manual). After installation, adjust valve clearance to specification (cold intake approximately 0.25–0.30 mm, exhaust approximately 0.45–0.50 mm) and bleed the cooling system thoroughly.
