The Clutch Pressure Plate Assembly with OEM numbers 1-31220364-2 and 1312203642 is a verified direct-fit replacement for ISUZU FRR / FSR / FTR / FVR medium and heavy-duty trucks equipped with 6HH1 / 6HE1 / 6HK1 diesel engines. This clutch pressure plate is a critical component of the manual transmission clutch system, responsible for applying clamping force to the clutch disc, transmitting engine torque to the transmission, and allowing smooth engagement and disengagement of the drivetrain.
The clutch pressure plate assembly is a spring-loaded mechanism that presses the clutch disc against the engine flywheel when the clutch pedal is released. It consists of a heavy-duty cast iron cover, a diaphragm spring, a pressure plate, and a release mechanism.
When the clutch pedal is depressed, the release bearing pushes against the diaphragm spring, releasing the clamping force on the clutch disc and allowing the engine to disconnect from the transmission. When the pedal is released, the diaphragm spring forces the pressure plate to clamp the clutch disc firmly against the flywheel, transmitting engine torque to the transmission input shaft.
The 6HH1 is an 8.2L inline-six direct-injection diesel engine producing approximately 175 kW (238 HP), widely used in ISUZU FRR/FSR/FTR trucks from 1996 to 2003. The 6HE1 is a 7.1L variant, and the 6HK1 is a 7.8L engine used in later models.
Replace the clutch pressure plate assembly when any of these symptoms appear:
⚠️ Critical Inspection Note: ISUZU service manuals require that the clutch pressure plate be replaced as a complete kit with the clutch disc and release bearing for optimal results. Always inspect the flywheel surface for cracks, heat spots, or scoring — resurface or replace if any abnormality is found. Use a clutch alignment tool during installation to ensure proper disc-to-flywheel alignment. Do not use any lubricant on the friction facing surfaces. After installation, adjust the clutch pedal free play to specification.
