What is a closed loop? Isn't the loop always closed?
When you imagine some of the familiar rings we see around us -- roller coasters, racetracks, key rings -- they all have one basic feature: the end meets the beginning. The same concept applies to servo loops. The control system issues commands to the drive; Drive sends power to the motor; The motor's response -- speed and position -- is transmitted back to the control system to close the loop. The goal is to match the feedback to the command.
