Industrial Lithium Accelerating Agent Lithium Chloride for Quick Strength Development
An accelerating agent, or accelerator, in concrete is an additive that reduces the setting time and accelerates the early strength development of the concrete. This is particularly useful in cold weather conditions, as low temperatures significantly slow down the hydration process of cement.
Product Overview
Lithium chloride (LiCl) is a less commonly used concrete accelerator, but it has some interesting properties that can be beneficial in certain applications.
Lithium chloride is a white crystal that is easily soluble in water. The solubility under standard conditions is 67g/100ml.It is also soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and pyridine, but is insoluble in e.ther. Lithium chloride has a melting point of 605 ° C, a boiling point of 1350 ° C, and a lattice energy of 853 kJ/mol.
Mechanism
- Acceleration effect: Lithium chloride increases the hydration rate of cement components and promotes faster formation of hydrated calcium silicate (C-S-H), which is crucial for early strength.
- Alleviates ASR: Lithium ions (Li+) replace sodium (Na+) and potassium (K+) ions in the ASR gel to form a non-swelling lithium silicate compound, thereby preventing the harmful effects of ASR.
