Composition:

• Polyester-based TPU primarily consists of raw materials such as 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), 1,4-butanediol (BDO), and adipic acid (AA). The MDI content is approximately 40%, AA accounts for about 35%, and BDO comprises around 25%.
• Polyether-based TPU, on the other hand, is primarily composed of MDI, polytetrahydrofuran (PTMEG), and BDO. The MDI content is roughly 40%, PTMEG constitutes about 40%, and BDO makes up approximately 20%.

Properties:

• Polyester-based TPU exhibits excellent mechanical properties, wear resistance, tear resistance, chemical resistance, high temperature resistance, and ease of processing. However, its hydrolysis resistance is relatively poor.
• Polyether-based TPU boasts superior low-temperature flexibility, hydrolysis resistance, mold resistance, UV resistance, and a good feel. However, its peel strength and tensile strength are relatively lower compared to polyester-based TPU.

Applications:

• Due to its robust mechanical properties and wear resistance, polyester-based TPU is widely used in applications such as oil pipes, seals, automotive parts, conveyor belts, footwheels, shoe materials, injection molding parts, and blended modified materials.
• Polyether-based TPU, with its excellent low-temperature flexibility and hydrolysis resistance, is ideal for use in thick-walled extruded profiles, protective clothing, waterproof jackets, flame-retardant materials, and other applications where resistance to hydrolysis and flexibility at low temperatures are crucial.
