The Trough Type Distributor consists of long tunnels called troughs, and one or more parting boxes, for feeding liquid to the troughs. The parting box helps in controlling the feed velocity to the troughs and ensures proportional distribution of the liquid. The space between the troughs is available for vapor passage. Number and location of the parting boxes will depend on the column diameter. Orifices can be located either on the wall or on the base of the troughs. When orifices are located on the wall, conductor tubes are provided at the wall to guide the flow of liquid.
The Trough Type Distributor usually rests on a ledge/support ring. It can also be suspended from beams.The advantage of parting box is the absence of joints, thus providing excellent liquid seal. Re distributors are not available in this model.

* Spray nozzles. Hemispherical spray nozzle will distribute the liquids evenly to the random or structured packing bed. There are numerous small holes in 3–10 mm on the nozzle. It is suitable for the smaller diameter packed tower, which is smaller than 600mm.
