Demister pad, also known as mist pad, wire mesh demister, mesh mist eliminator, catching mist, or mist eliminator, is an essential device used in a gas entrainedmist separation column to guarantee its filtering efficiency.
When the gas in the mist enters the column, the small droplets of liquid are entrained within the gas. During the course of the gas's movement, the mechanical velocity force and centrifugal force cause the droplets to move away from the gas flow, until they reach the demister pad.
The demister pad then acts as a layer to remove the entrained liquid droplets, allowing the gas to pass through the pad relatively free from large droplets. The liquid droplets are captured on the surface of the demister pad where they are removed in the form of slides or drops. When the droplets reach a certain size, they will flow back into the system.
