Model QA/S3.16.1, belonging to the ABB MDRC professional building automation series, is an industrial-grade energy analyzer natively adapted for M-Bus. Its core positioning is the central data acquisition unit of the building energy management system, supporting the synchronous access of up to 16 M-Bus compatible energy metering devices in a single unit. Specially designed for the refined monitoring, statistics and data upload of water, electricity, gas, heat and other multi-category energy consumption in buildings, it is distinguished from ordinary single-channel metering instruments and realizes the centralized management of multiple energy meters. As a key data hub for visual and intelligent management of building energy consumption, it balances multi-device access capability with the accuracy and continuity of data acquisition.
Core M-Bus Communication & Energy Acquisition
Natively supporting the M-Bus (Meter Bus) international standard protocol, a single device can access up to 16 M-Bus compatible energy metering devices (electric meters, water meters, gas meters, heat meters, etc.) to realize synchronous and real-time acquisition of energy consumption data of 16 devices. It can collect core metering parameters of all categories: cumulative energy consumption, instantaneous energy consumption, and unit time consumption. For electrical equipment, it can additionally collect electrical parameters such as voltage, current, active/reactive power; for water/gas/heat equipment, it can collect instantaneous flow, cumulative flow, medium temperature and other parameters. The data acquisition frequency is customizable (10s~1h) to meet the refined statistical needs of building energy consumption. It has the function of local caching of energy consumption data and supports on-demand timed upload, adapting to the data transmission rhythm of building automation systems.
Compatibility & Adaptation
Seamlessly connecting to the KNX/EIB intelligent building control bus, it can upload the collected energy consumption data of 16 devices to the KNX building central control system and professional energy management platform in real time, realizing visual display, report generation and remote monitoring of energy consumption data. It supports the expansion of RS485 industrial communication interface, adapting to the networking needs of building automation systems with non-KNX architecture and having strong versatility. It adopts a M-Bus bus standardized plug-and-play wiring design with a unified layout of 16 device access interfaces and no redundant wiring. Equipped with a lightweight visual configuration tool, no complex programming is required, and non-professional operation and maintenance personnel can quickly complete metering device access and acquisition parameter configuration. Later maintenance only requires data verification and device communication status inspection.

Built-in data verification and fault self-diagnosis functions, it real-time monitors the communication status and metering working status of 16 connected devices, and triggers dual alarms of local indicator lights and bus terminal immediately when the device is offline or the data is distorted/abnormal, facilitating quick location and troubleshooting and ensuring the integrity and validity of energy consumption data. Equipped with a local large-capacity energy consumption data storage module, the data is permanently not lost in case of sudden power failure, effectively avoiding the energy consumption statistical fault caused by power failure and ensuring the continuity of energy consumption accounting and cost settlement. Adopting a low-power industrial-grade design, the device itself has extremely low operating power consumption, supporting remote status monitoring and fault diagnosis through the KNX bus, greatly reducing the operation and maintenance cost of the energy management system. It has a customizable energy consumption threshold setting function, which automatically alarms when the collected energy consumption data exceeds the preset threshold, helping building energy conservation management, over-consumption early warning and cost optimization. 16 independent device status indicator lights can quickly judge the communication/working status of a single metering device, improving the efficiency of fault troubleshooting.
