The 5500AC2 is a C-Bus application controller in the Clipsal SpaceLogic range, a DIN rail device six modules wide that gives a C-Bus lighting installation something it otherwise lacks: a place to run logic, keep a schedule and hold a scene that survives a power cycle.
On a simple C-Bus network the intelligence is spread across the input and output units, which is efficient but limited. The application controller exists for projects where that is not enough. It carries an Ethernet port together with serial ports, and it can communicate with Modbus and BACnet equipment as well as to C-Bus, enabling lighting systems to react to building conditions rather than only to switches: HVAC plant state changes, fire alarm inputs, time schedules from head ends, or metering signals.
The controller runs on 24 volts DC and occupies minimal rail space, allowing easy addition to existing panels without requiring rebuilds.
