Five newton metres suits smaller dampers and terminal unit blades, and the figure should be checked against the manufacturer's damper data rather than estimated from the shaft size. The 2 to 10 V control signal is not the same as a 0 to 10 V signal, and a controller configured for the wrong range will drive the damper over only part of its travel, producing a system that modulates but never fully closes or opens.
The auxiliary switch is a useful feedback source but it reports position, not torque, so a damper that is mechanically jammed can still show as fully closed; trend data on the commanded and reported positions is what reveals that condition.
