The BD-D482-508 Ash Content Tester is designed and manufactured in accordance with the national standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T508 Standard Test Method for Ash Content of Petroleum Products. This instrument is suitable for determining ash content in petroleum products as per GB/T508 specifications.
Note: This tester cannot be used for petroleum products containing ash-forming additives (including additives containing certain phosphorus compounds), lubricating oils containing lead, and used engine crankcase oils.
Test Method Summary
The ash content test method utilizes ashless filter paper as an ignition core. The sample is ignited in a crucible until it burns to ash and carbon residue. The carbon residue is then heated at 775°C in a high-temperature furnace to convert it to ash. The resulting ash is cooled and weighed to determine mass.
