I. Overview

The ES series ellipsometers are high-precision, rapid-access spectroscopic ellipsometers from LONROY designed for research and industrial environments, covering the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared wavelength range.

Based on a high-sensitivity detection unit and ellipsometer analysis software, the ES series ellipsometers are used to measure the layer structure parameters (e.g., thickness) and physical parameters (e.g., refractive index n, extinction coefficient k, or dielectric functions ε1 and ε2) of single-layer and multi-layer nanofilms. They can also be used to measure the optical properties of bulk materials. Measurable samples include:

1) Film thickness d and physical parameters (e.g., refractive index n, extinction coefficient k, or dielectric functions ε1 and ε2) of single-layer and multi-layer nanostructured samples;

2) Physical parameters (e.g., refractive index n, extinction coefficient k, or dielectric functions ε1 and ε2) of bulk materials;

3) Reflectivity R of the sample;

4) Transmittance T of the sample (not supported for fixed angles or for use with micro-spots);

5) Scattering mode measurement (only for the 02 series with independent automatic angle variation).

In addition, the instrument is equipped with powerful spectral ellipsometry measurement and analysis software. 

 

 

II. Technical Features

(1) Rotation compensator measurement technology: The measurement range of the ellipsometry angle Δ is 0-360°, with no blind spots. ES is a single rotation compensator that can measure all 12 elements of the Mueller matrix of a sample, eliminating the influence of depolarization effects caused by rough surfaces on the results;

(2) Extremely high long-term accuracy: Employing rapid compensator rotation and broadband super-achromatic compensators, long-term accuracy and reliability are guaranteed;

(3) Atomic-layer level detection sensitivity: Capable of measuring single atomic layers;

(4) Video-based sample alignment: Precisely aligns samples and facilitates observation, reducing human error;

(5) Multi-incident angle adjustment: The multi-incident angle structure design enhances the instrument's measurement flexibility, especially suitable for measuring ultra-thin or complex samples;

(6) Reflectance/transmittance measurement: Allows for spectral reflectance and transmittance measurement of samples;

(7) One-click instrument operation: For routine operations, a single mouse click completes complex measurement, modeling, fitting, and analysis processes. A rich model and material library also facilitates advanced user needs;
