Product Overview

The safety gear is one of the most important mechanical safety devices in an elevator system. It works in conjunction with the governor. When the elevator overspeeds during descent, the governor triggers the safety gear, and the safety gear wedges instantly clamp onto the guide rails, emergency stopping the car to prevent a fall accident. It serves as the last line of defense for elevator safety.

Key Features

· Progressive Braking Design: Uses elastic elements to control braking force, allowing the car to decelerate smoothly without sudden impact shocks. Complies with safety requirements for high-speed elevators.

· Instantaneous Braking Structure: Designed for low-speed elevators. Responds quickly, with wedges instantly locking onto the guide rails for short braking distance.

· Synchronized Dual Guide Shoe Linkage: Left and right safety gears are synchronized via a linkage rod mechanism, ensuring uniform braking force on both sides of the car to prevent tilting or jamming.

· High-Wear-Resistant Wedges: Wedge surfaces are hardened or embedded with friction materials. Offers stable friction coefficient, high temperature resistance, and long service life.

· Self-Cleaning Structure: Chip removal grooves are designed on the contact surface between wedges and guide rails to prevent foreign matter from affecting braking performance.

· Easy Reset: Can be manually reset by lifting the car upward after activation, no disassembly required.

Product Standards

Complies with GB/T 7588 and EN 81-1/2 standards. Type-tested and certified. Braking force and braking distance are calibrated on a dedicated test bench.

Applications

· Progressive safety gear: Suitable for high-speed passenger elevators, medical elevators

· Instantaneous safety gear: Suitable for low-speed freight elevators, dumbwaiters, home lifts

Installation & Service

During installation, ensure uniform clearance between wedges and guide rails (typically 1.5–2.5mm) and synchronization of left and right safety gear linkage rods. A type test report is provided with delivery. Installation clearance adjustment guidance is available. It is recommended to perform a safety gear linkage test annually.
