It is essential to top balance LiFePO4 cells before building a battery pack to ensure all cells are at the same state of charge. Voltage alone is unreliable for determining state of charge in this chemistry due to the flat charge/discharge curve.
Proper initial balancing ensures accurate capacity test results and prevents premature BMS triggering. For large battery banks or cells with varying internal resistance, manual top balancing is recommended rather than relying solely on BMS balancing over extended periods.
Important Note: Please check all battery voltages and internal resistance to ensure they are balanced before DIY assembly. All batteries are tested before shipment, but you should verify them upon receipt. Basic electronics and battery assembly knowledge is required. No refund or warranty for unprofessional operation. Minor scratches may occur during transportation but do not affect performance.
