Safety & Performance
Are Lithium Batteries Safe?

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are the safest lithium battery type. They will not overheat and will not catch fire even if punctured. The cathode material is non-hazardous and environmentally safe.

Life Expectancy

Typical life expectancy: 5-15 years or 2000 to 8000 charge cycles (one cycle = fully charged to fully discharged and recharged).

Charging Recommendations

For solar charging, always use LiFePO4/Lithium Ion solar controllers. Lead Acid controllers may damage the PCB over time due to constant pulse currents.

Do not use lead acid chargers with high charging current. LiFePO4 batteries require 3.65V per cell, while lead acid batteries charge at 2.30V to 2.45V per cell. Using incorrect chargers will result in undercharging and prevent proper balancing.
