Pneumatic rubber fenders, also known as Yokohama fenders, are manufactured from rubber and multiple layers of rubber-dipped tire fabric. They serve as leading anti-collision devices for marine applications worldwide.

These floating pneumatic rubber fenders are constructed from synthetic-cord-reinforced rubber sheets with compressed air inside. The internal air enables them to float on water and function as shock absorbers between ships (ship-to-ship) or between ships and berthing structures during docking operations.

Unlike solid rubber or foam fenders, inflatable rubber fenders maintain rated reaction force and energy absorption even at inclined compression up to 15 degrees, providing consistent performance regardless of approach angle.

Zhonghaihang Pneumatic Rubber Fenders are constructed with three primary components:

• Outer Rubber: Protects cord layers and inner rubber from abrasion and external forces with superior tensile and tear resistance
• Reinforcement Synthetic-Tyre-Cord Layer: Maintains internal air pressure with exceptional strength and stability
• Inner Rubber Layer: Seals pressurized air inside the fender

Fenders with diameters of 2500mm and larger include safety valves to release excess internal pressure during accidental over-compression. The assembly features metal end fittings with internal and external flanges secured by bolts and nuts, with a central valve similar to automotive tire valves.

• Maintain fender pressure within standard air pressure ±5% range
• Check air pressure every three months and adjust as needed
• Avoid contact with sharp objects
• When not in use for extended periods: wash, dry, fill with appropriate compressed air, and store in cool, dry, ventilated areas
• Storage areas should be away from heat sources, acids, alkalis, oils, and greases
• Do not fold or stack fenders during storage
