Water Weight Bag is a flexible temporary load testing product designed for controlled proof load testing of cranes, davits, hoists, lifting appliances, platforms, structural components, and other load-bearing equipment. It uses water as a temporary test medium, allowing the required load to be established directly at the testing site instead of transporting an equivalent quantity of rigid steel or concrete weights.
This operating method is suitable for marine, offshore, port, shipyard, construction, and heavy industrial environments where testing efficiency, site accessibility, and temporary load management are important considerations.
A ship repair facility in Northern Europe conducted extensive refurbishment on deck cranes, requiring controlled load testing before returning to cargo-handling duties. Limited deck space and simultaneous maintenance operations made traditional steel weights impractical.
Water Weight Bags were delivered folded and installed beneath the crane. Progressive loading allowed engineers to verify connections and monitor crane performance at multiple stages before reaching the final proof load. After testing, water was discharged and bags were stored for future use.
This approach reduced transportation requirements and provided flexible loading control in a constrained working environment.
