Production Process
Step 1: Raw Material Preparation & Melting
Material Selection: High-quality polypropylene (PP) resin pellets (meets marine-grade durability standards) and Polysteel fibers (for reinforced strength) are selected as core raw materials. Impurities in the raw materials are filtered out to avoid affecting the rope’s structural integrity.
Melting & Extrusion: PP resin pellets are fed into an extruder, where they are heated to a molten state (around 180–220°C). The molten PP is then extruded through a spinneret with fine holes to form continuous PP monofilaments. Polysteel fibers are separately pre-treated (e.g., tension adjustment) to ensure uniform length and flexibility before blending.
Step 2: Monofilament Drawing & Heat Setting
Drawing for Strength: The extruded PP monofilaments are pulled (drawn) by a drawing machine at a controlled speed. This process stretches the monofilaments, aligns their internal molecular structure, and enhances tensile strength—critical for achieving the rope’s "high breaking strength" feature.
Heat Setting: The drawn PP monofilaments are passed through a heat-setting oven. This step stabilizes the monofilaments’ shape, reduces shrinkage (preventing length changes during marine use), and improves their resistance to heat and moisture.
Step 3: Coloring (Blue Pigment Integration)
Pigment Mixing: Food-grade, UV-resistant blue pigment is mixed with the molten PP during the extrusion stage (or applied as a coating to the drawn monofilaments, depending on color fastness requirements). The pigment is evenly distributed to ensure consistent blue coloring across all monofilaments, with no fading under prolonged sun exposure (a key need for marine visibility).
Step 4: Stranding (3-Strand Formation)
Monofilament Bundling: PP monofilaments and Polysteel fibers are combined into three equal-sized bundles (strands). Each bundle is twisted slightly (pre-twisting) to compact the fibers, enhancing cohesion and preventing strand fraying.
Twisting into Strands: Each bundle is fed into a stranding machine, which twists the monofilaments and Polysteel fibers together to form three independent, uniform strands. The twist density is controlled to balance flexibility and strength—too loose, and the strand weakens; too tight, and the rope becomes stiff.
Step 5: Final Rope Twisting (3-Strand Twisted Construction)
Triple-Strand Twisting: The three pre-formed strands are fed into a main twisting machine, where they are twisted together in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction (depending on standard marine rope specifications). This twisting process interlocks the strands, creating the final 3-strand twisted structure that distributes load evenly and boosts breaking strength.
Diameter Calibration: During twisting, the rope’s diameter is monitored and adjusted to ensure it meets the 10mm standard. Any deviations are corrected in real time to maintain consistency.
Step 6: Cutting, Winding & Quality Inspection
Length Cutting: The continuous twisted rope is cut into 200m segments using a precision cutting machine, ensuring accurate length with no frayed ends.
Winding: Each 200m rope segment is wound onto a durable spool (e.g., plastic or wooden) to prevent tangling during storage and transportation.
Quality Testing: Samples from each batch undergo rigorous testing, including:
Breaking Strength Test: Using a tensile testing machine to verify the rope meets high breaking strength requirements for marine use.
Abrasion Resistance Test: Rubbing the rope against rough surfaces (simulating marine conditions) to check for fraying.
Color Fastness Test: Exposing the rope to UV light to ensure blue color does not fade.
Packaging: Qualified ropes are packaged in moisture-proof materials to protect them from damage during shipping.
2. Application Scope
Marine Boat Basic Securement
Dock Lines & Mooring Lines: Ideal for securing small to medium-sized marine boats (e.g., fishing boats, recreational speedboats) to docks, piers, or buoys. Its high breaking strength withstands wave-induced tension and wind forces, while PP’s moisture resistance prevents rot or weight gain from seawater. The 10mm diameter balances flexibility (easy to tie knots like cleat hitches) and durability.
Anchor Lines (Light to Medium Duty): Suitable for anchor lines in calm to moderately rough waters (e.g., coastal bays, lakes). The Polysteel fiber reinforcement ensures it can hold the boat’s weight against currents, and the blue color enhances visibility—helping users locate the rope in low-light or murky water.
On-Boat Equipment & Gear Fixing
On-Deck Gear Securement: Used to secure on-board equipment such as life jackets, fenders, coolers, or fishing nets. The rope’s flexibility allows it to wrap around irregularly shaped gear, and its abrasion resistance prevents damage from rubbing against boat decks or metal hardware. The 200m length provides ample material for multiple securing points on larger boats.
Temporary Railings or Handholds: In emergency situations (e.g., damaged boat railings), the rope can be strung between fixed points to create temporary handholds, ensuring crew safety. Its high breaking strength supports human weight, and the blue color remains visible even in wet conditions.
Recreational Marine Activities
Water Toy Towing: Used for towing lightweight marine recreational toys (e.g., inflatable tubes, wakeboards) behind boats. The rope’s elasticity (from PP monofilament) reduces sudden jolts for riders, while its strength ensures it does not snap under the toy’s weight or water resistance. The blue color makes it easy to track in open water.
Swimming Area Markers: Used to tie buoys and mark safe swimming areas near boats or shorelines. The rope’s moisture resistance and UV stability ensure it lasts in constant sun and water exposure, and the blue color is highly visible—warning boats to avoid the area.
Light-Duty Marine Maintenance & Emergency Use
Boat Cover Ties: Used to secure boat covers (e.g., during storage or transport) to prevent them from being blown off by wind. The rope’s flexibility allows it to conform to the boat’s shape, and its durability resists wear from cover fabric and outdoor elements.
Emergency Tow Lines (Small Vessels): Serves as a temporary emergency tow line for small boats (e.g., dinghies, kayaks) that need to be pulled to shore or a larger vessel. Its high breaking strength handles the tow load, and the compact 200m spool is easy to store in a boat’s emergency kit.
