Disposable 95 Degree Curved PVC Preformed Laryngeal Mask Airway for Oral
The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is a supraglottic airway device developed by British Anesthesiologist Dr. Archi Brain. It has been in use since 1988. Initially designed for use in the operating room as a method of elective ventilation, it is a good alternative to bag-valve-mask ventilation, freeing the hands of the provider with the benefit of less gastric distention. [1, 2] Initially used primarily in the operating room setting, the LMA has more recently come into use in the emergency setting as an important accessory device for management of the difficult airway. [3, 4]
The LMA is shaped like a large endotracheal tube on the proximal end that connects to an elliptical mask on the distal end. It is designed to sit in the patient’s hypopharynx and cover the supraglottic structures, thereby allowing relative isolation of the trachea. The patient should be obtunded and unresponsive before one of these devices is placed.
This reusable silicone laryngeal mask can be autoclaved for up to 40 times. The raw material we used is imported medical-grade silicone, which has excellent biological compatibility, physical and mechanical performance. It has a built-in and anatomically correct curve for easy insertion. The LMA is available in 7 sizes from neonate to adult.
Laryngeal mask airway devices are used to provide a clear airway during anaesthesia and other medical procedures. These devices are inserted into the patient’s airway and held in place by suction, which helps to keep the airway open and prevent collapse. LMA devices are typically used in conjunction with a tube and collection canister, and they may be left in place for several hours following surgery. Negative pressure therapy provided a reliable and effective method for maintaining an airway whereas traditional airway management techniques, such as intubation and tracheotomy, were often difficult to perform and had a high risk of complications.
