Precision CNC Milled 316L Stainless Steel Tubing for Liposuction Cannulas is a high-end manufacturing service dedicated to producing the core tubular components of medical liposuction cannulas. Utilizing biocompatible 316L stainless steel tubing as the base material, this process employs advanced multi-axis CNC milling to create the complex, precise, and smooth internal and external geometries required for effective fat aspiration. This includes machining the distal tip configuration (e.g., Mercedes, bullet, spatula), the strategically placed aspiration ports (holes/slots), and often the proximal connection features—all from a single piece of tubing. This method ensures exceptional dimensional accuracy, durability, and a flawless surface finish critical for surgical performance and patient safety.
Product Processing
Material Selection & Verification: Medical-grade 316L stainless steel tubing, certified to ASTM A269 or similar standards, is selected. The tubing's ID, OD, and wall thickness are verified to ensure consistency.
CNC Swiss Machining / Precision Milling Setup: The tubing is loaded into a CNC Swiss-style lathe or a multi-axis milling center with a precision collet. This setup allows for simultaneous turning and milling operations along the length of the tube.
Distal Tip Machining (Core Feature): Using micro-end mills and precision tooling, the complex tip geometry is milled. This can create various patented designs like multi-port (Mercedes), single-port, or spatula tips with specific cutting angles and radii to optimize tissue separation and fat harvesting.
Aspiration Port Machining: The side aspiration ports (holes or slots) are CNC milled with extreme precision. Their location, size, shape (round, oval, rectangular), and edge sharpness/deburring are critically controlled to affect fluid dynamics and minimize tissue trauma.
Proximal End Machining & Connection Forming: The proximal end is machined to create connection features, such as threads for Luer-lock hubs or specific fittings to connect to suction tubing and handles. This is often done in the same setup to ensure perfect concentricity.
Intensive Deburring & Polishing: All milled edges, especially inside the ports and the tip, undergo meticulous deburring. The entire cannula, internal lumen and external surface, is then electrophished to a mirror-like finish (Ra < 0.2 µm). This minimizes friction, prevents bacterial adhesion, and facilitates cleaning.
Comprehensive Cleaning, Inspection & Packaging: The cannula undergoes validated multi-stage cleaning (ultrasonic, etc.) to meet biocompatibility standards. 100% inspection includes dimensional checks (CMM), visual inspection under magnification, and functional flow testing. It is then cleanroom packaged, ready for final assembly into a complete device or for terminal sterilization.
