The NVIDIA® MFA1A00-C050 is a high-performance QSFP28 Active Optical Cable (AOC) designed for 100Gb/s Ethernet applications. This Optical Fiber Cable leverages VCSEL-based technology to deliver reliable, high-speed data transmission over multimode fiber (MMF), supporting distances of up to 50 meters. It is an ideal solution for data centers and high-performance computing environments requiring high bandwidth, low latency, and low power consumption.
The MFA1A00-C050 complies with SFF-8665 and SFF-8636 standards. It supports 100GBASE-SR4 Ethernet and is interoperable with InfiniBand EDR systems. The cable uses four 25.78 Gb/s lanes with optional retiming for signal integrity.
The AOC converts electrical signals into optical signals via VCSEL transmitters, transmits light over multimode fiber, and converts back to electrical signals at the receiving end. Integrated signal retiming and equalization ensure low bit error rate (BER < 10⁻¹⁵) over extended distances.
