The NVIDIA MFA1A00-C030 represents a high-performance QSFP28 Active Optical Cable solution engineered for modern data center environments requiring 100Gb/s connectivity. This advanced AOC cable utilizes VCSEL-based optical technology to deliver reliable, high-bandwidth interconnects between networking equipment, servers, and storage systems.
Designed for both 100GbE Ethernet and InfiniBand EDR applications, this active optical cable provides superior performance compared to passive copper alternatives, especially over longer distances where signal integrity becomes critical. The MFA1A00 series offers a robust solution for data center operators seeking to maximize port density while minimizing power consumption and cable management complexity.
This active optical cable incorporates Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology combined with advanced signal processing capabilities. Each end of the AOC contains four independent optical transceivers operating at data rates up to 26Gb/s per lane, aggregated to deliver the full 100Gb/s bandwidth.
The integrated retiming circuitry ensures signal integrity across the entire 30-meter distance, with programmable input equalization and output pre-emphasis capabilities. The digital diagnostic monitoring system provides real-time visibility into operational parameters including optical power levels, temperature, and voltage conditions.
The MFA1A00-C030 active optical cable functions by converting electrical signals to optical transmissions at each connector end. When electrical data enters the QSFP28 connector, integrated laser drivers modulate VCSEL light sources, transmitting the optical signals through multi-mode fibers to the receiving end.
At the destination, photodetectors convert the optical signals back to electrical format, with integrated clock and data recovery circuits reconstructing the original data stream. This bidirectional operation occurs simultaneously across all four fiber channels, maintaining synchronization and signal integrity throughout transmission.
