The production of colored stainless steel sheets via PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) involves three core stages: pre-treatment, PVD coating deposition, and post-treatment, with strict parameter control throughout.
This stage ensures a clean, smooth surface for coating adhesion.
Cutting & Polishing: Cut stainless steel coils/plates to required dimensions via laser or shearing. Polish with abrasive belts/wheels to achieve finishes like mirror, brushed, or matte, and remove minor scratches.
Cleaning: First, degrease with alkaline/solvent solutions to eliminate oil and fingerprints. Then, pickle with nitric-hydrofluoric acid to remove oxide layers and polishing residues. Finally, rinse with deionized water and dry with hot air/infrared to avoid water spots.
Completed in a high-vacuum chamber to ensure coating quality.
Vacuum Setup: Load dried substrates into the chamber, then pump to 10⁻³–10⁻⁵ Pa (high vacuum). Heat substrates to 150–300°C and use argon ion bombardment for deep cleaning.
Target Sputtering & Reaction: Select targets based on color (e.g., titanium for gold, chromium for silver). Use magnetron sputtering (plasma bombards targets to release atoms) or arc ion plating (electric arc melts targets) to vaporize targets. Introduce reactive gases (nitrogen for nitrides, oxygen for oxides); target atoms react with gases to form colored compound films (e.g., TiN for rose gold) on substrates.
Thickness Control: Monitor via a quartz crystal sensor to keep coating thickness at 0.1–1 μm (too thin = poor fastness; too thick = brittleness).
This stage enhances performance and ensures compliance.
Cooling & Finishing: Cool the chamber to room temperature, release vacuum, and unload. Optionally, lightly polish coated surfaces for better gloss.
Quality Checks: Test coating hardness (≥2000 HV via Vickers tester) and adhesion (no peeling via cross-cut tester). Use a spectrophotometer to verify color consistency (ΔE ≤ 1 vs. standards).
Packaging: Wrap qualified sheets in anti-scratch film, then pack in cartons/wooden pallets for transport.

The "Titanium Bright" finish refers to a high-luster, reflective base that is then textured by a controlled sandblasting process. This hybrid finish offers greater visual depth and a more modern, subtle luxury compared to a standard full-mirror or uniform matte surface. It effectively minimizes the visibility of fingerprints and minor scratches, making it an excellent choice for high-touch areas like elevator interiors, feature walls, and signage where maintaining a pristine look is essential.
This material is engineered for exceptional durability and ease of maintenance. The sandblasted texture not only enhances the visual appeal but also strengthens the surface against everyday wear and abrasion. The underlying stainless steel grades provide reliable corrosion resistance, with Grade 304 offering excellent general performance and Grade 430 being a cost-effective option for drier, indoor environments. The smooth, hard surface is non-porous, resistant to stains, and incredibly easy to clean with just a damp cloth, ensuring long-term hygiene and preserving its like-new appearance with minimal effort. This combination of ruggedness and low upkeep guarantees a lasting, beautiful finish.
