Function:
Crane relief valve is an important hydraulic component, its main role includes the following points:
1. Pressure control
The relief valve can limit the maximum working pressure in the hydraulic system. When the system pressure exceeds the set value, the relief valve will automatically open and flow the excess hydraulic oil back to the tank, thus preventing the system pressure from being too high. This is especially important in the hydraulic system of the crane, because excessive pressure may cause damage to the hydraulic pump, hydraulic cylinder, piping and other components.
2. Safety Protection
The relief valve plays the role of safety valve in the hydraulic system of the crane. When the load exceeds the set limit or the system is abnormal, the relief valve will open quickly to release the excess pressure to prevent equipment damage or accidents caused by overload. Usually, the regulating pressure of the relief valve is 10%20% higher than the maximum working pressure of the system to ensure that it stays closed under normal working pressure.
3. Stabilising system pressure
Relief valve can maintain the system pressure in a certain range of stable operation. In a dosing pump throttling and regulating system, when the system pressure rises causing a reduction in flow demand, the relief valve will overflow the excess flow back to the tank to ensure that the system pressure remains constant. This helps to improve the smoothness and reliability of the crane operation.
4. System Unloading
Under certain conditions, the relief valve can be used as an unloading valve. By connecting a small flow control valve and a solenoid valve in series with the remote port of the relief valve, when the solenoid valve is energised, the remote port of the relief valve is connected to the oil tank to unload the hydraulic pump. This helps to reduce system energy consumption and extend equipment life.
5. Generate back pressure
Connecting the relief valve in series on the return line can provide back pressure to the system, thus increasing the smoothness of moving parts. In the hydraulic system of a crane, the back pressure prevents the actuating elements from shaking or becoming unstable due to pressure fluctuations.
6. Auxiliary functions
Relief valves can also be used in complex hydraulic circuits such as multi-stage pressure control, remote pressure regulation, and sequence control. For example, by cooperating with the directional valve, high and low pressure multi-stage control can be achieved.
