A Lipp spiral grain silo is rolled from one continuous steel strip on site, so the wall is a single sealed shell that holds wheat, rice, maize and other crops without leaks. Built-in ventilation and temperature control keep the grain in condition, while the smooth interior resists pests, dust and spoilage through the season.
The silo is raised from a coil of steel strip fed through a Lipp forming machine at the site. The machine bends and locks the strip into a rising spiral, so the shell is one piece with a single helical seam rather than many bolted panels. That single seam and smooth wall make the silo easy to keep clean and hard for grain pests to colonise between fills.
Grain stays saleable only when heat and moisture are controlled. The silo is fitted with a ventilation and temperature system that moves air through the stored crop and reads the temperature at the core, so hot spots that lead to mould and spoilage are caught early. The settings are matched to the crop and the local climate, whether the silo sits at a family farm or a large milling site.
Why a single spiral wall helps grain
Fewer joints means fewer gaps where moisture and insects enter, and the smooth steel interior gives no ledge for residue to build up between crops. The result is a cleaner wall and a lower spoilage rate year after year.
A sealed spiral shell plus a controlled climate protects the harvest from the three losses that matter most: spoilage from damp and heat, pests that enter through weak seams, and contaminants from a dirty wall. For farms, food processors and the wider agricultural chain, that protection is the gap between a saleable crop and a write-off.
Each silo is set to the material and the site. Diameter, height, filling and discharge points are chosen for the throughput, and extra outlets or access points are added where the process needs them. When the duty changes, the next silo can shift to match, so the storage keeps pace with the harvest instead of boxing it in.
