HASTELLOY C276 (UNS N10276) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloy with nominal composition:
✅ ≥14.5% Chromium (Cr) → Forms dense, self-healing passive films rich in Cr₂O₃ under oxidative conditions.
✅ ≥16% Molybdenum (Mo) → Stabilizes against pitting/crevice corrosion by enhancing resistance to halides (Cl⁻, F⁻) and reducing acids.
✅ ~3.7% Tungsten (W) → Adds thermal stability to the matrix at elevated temperatures, delaying phase decomposition.
✅ Trace Cobalt & Iron → Maintain structural integrity without compromising corrosion barrier efficacy.
Unique Synergy: These elements work synergistically to rebuild protective oxide layers even after mechanical damage or thermal cycling—critical for maintaining performance during service fluctuations.
Seamless construction via extrusion eliminates weld seams—the most vulnerable sites for initiation of high-temp corrosion fatigue. Benefits include:
