Product Specification

A heat-resistant cast steel frame box provides a defined structure around a workpiece load or a furnace tooling assembly. The frame can combine side sections, openings and support features into a custom geometry. This product focuses on the relationship between the box outline, its supporting base and the parts that fit inside or alongside it.

Frame geometry and usable space

The outside dimensions establish where the frame fits in the equipment, while the internal envelope determines the space available for the load. Both are important. A frame that fits the furnace externally may still require different internal clearances or support positions for the intended workpieces.

Sidewall openings, corner features and the base connection should be shown on the component or assembly drawing. These details define the structure and its relationship to any tray, grid or additional fixture. The design should distinguish locating surfaces from features that simply define the surrounding outline.

Cast construction and finishing

Sand casting and investment casting are process options considered against the selected material and component geometry. The quotation identifies the route for the individual part. The finished requirement may include an as-cast frame together with specified machining at contact or mounting locations.

A clear drawing separates general cast dimensions from the features that control assembly. Seating faces, hole positions and mating edges can have different acceptance requirements. This allows the manufacturing plan to focus on the interfaces needed for the frame to fit and function.

Material and furnace environment

Heat-resistant cast steel is selected for the actual temperature range, atmosphere and loading conditions. The material response in a furnace depends on the operating environment and the exposure cycle as well as the alloy designation. A frame supporting a load must be assessed as a structural component at its service conditions.

Specify whether the assembly remains hot for extended periods or repeatedly moves through heating and cooling stages. Include any chemical atmosphere or process exposure that affects the frame. These conditions establish the material-selection basis without assigning one temperature rating to every grade.

Base support, stacking and handling

The frame should be reviewed together with the structure beneath it. Show the intended contact areas and any connection to a base tray. Where more than one level is used, identify the approved stacking arrangement and the interfaces that maintain the layout.

Handling access and the route through the equipment are also part of the design. Any lifting or transfer feature must be specified for the actual assembly. Photographs may show component examples, but the load capacity and permissible handling arrangement follow the approved design rather than the appearance of a frame.

Inspection and repeat orders

Dimensional inspection can address the external and internal envelope, seating geometry and mounting features. The order also defines material records, surface acceptance and any additional examinations. Required heat treatment of the casting is a manufacturing requirement separate from the heat treatment process in which the fixture will operate.

For replacement tooling, provide the current drawing revision and any approved changes to the adjoining tray or equipment. Identifying the complete assembly helps keep a new frame compatible with the existing installation.
