A custom ceramic composite liner is a wear component as well as an installation part. A liner designed as part of an assembly

A lined surface may contain several parts with different profiles and mounting positions. Although neighbouring liners can look similar, their edge geometry or fixing pattern may differ. An assembly layout identifies where each component belongs and how the parts meet along the wear surface.

For replacement work, show the supporting surface and available installation space along with the liner outline. If a sample has worn in service, distinguish its remaining shape from the original design dimensions. A reference drawing and part number make the replacement requirement easier to reproduce.

Ceramic and support materials have different roles

The ceramic constituent contributes to abrasive wear resistance. The supporting material and the way the constituents are combined help define the shape and mechanical behaviour of the complete liner. Selection should therefore consider the composite as a system, not simply compare the hardness of one constituent.

The exact ceramic specification, supporting-material grade and ceramic-bearing layout are established for the order. Where an equipment drawing calls for a particular combination, retain that definition during replacement. Changing one material or the distribution of the ceramic can require a corresponding design review.

Operating information and practical selection

Describe the handled material, particle size and how it contacts the liner. A predominantly sliding duty differs from repeated concentrated impact, and the equipment location may also introduce changes in direction or loading. This information helps assess whether the proposed composite arrangement suits the application.

Maintenance records can add useful context: identify where wear occurs, which edges become exposed and whether fixing areas remain protected. These observations are more informative for a new enquiry than a fixed service-life figure without the operating conditions that produced it.

Installation details and receiving checks

The part drawing should include overall dimensions, profile references, hole positions and any special seating features. Identify the ceramic-bearing regions and the intended mounting method. Installation instructions need to suit the actual composite construction, particularly where field modification or local clamping loads are involved.

For a replacement set, agree part identification and quantities against the assembly layout. Receiving inspection can then check the finished geometry, surface condition and order-specific material records. Required tests for the ceramic, supporting material or their interface should have a stated method and acceptance criterion.
