Product Specification

Cr15MoNi high chromium cast iron wear plates provide a replaceable surface for abrasive process equipment. The component is specified around its material designation, working profile and mounting geometry. For a purchasing team, those three elements define a useful wear plate far more clearly than a broad request for a hard metal casting.

A distinct material specification

Cr15MoNi identifies the material for this wear plate. Its chemistry and delivery condition are defined by the selected material specification. An order referencing AS2027 or ASTM A532 should identify the applicable grade or class and acceptance requirements explicitly.

High chromium white irons are used for abrasive duties because their microstructure contains hard carbides within a metallic matrix. Material condition and the type of wear remain important. A hard wear face is not, by itself, proof that a plate is suitable for every impact level or equipment design.

Wear face, support and attachment

A cast wear plate can have a flat or shaped outline according to the drawing. The working face encounters the abrasive material, while the back surface and fixing details connect it to the equipment. The plate profile should therefore be considered together with the way it is supported.

Mounting-hole positions, bolt-seat geometry and edge relationships matter when replacing an existing part. Where a plate meets another liner, show the joint arrangement on the drawing. This helps avoid a correct-looking individual casting that does not match its intended installation.

Manufacturing and finishing requirements

The existing product process is sand casting with shot-blast surface cleaning. The component drawing defines any additional finishing and the dimensions that need particular control. A surface intended to contact the equipment may require different treatment from an exposed wear surface.

Specify any machining, special holes or edge details before manufacture. High-hardness cast iron should not be treated as an ordinary mild-steel plate for uncontrolled site modification. Installation and repair methods need to be appropriate to the selected material and approved design.

Application information that improves selection

For an abrasive-duty enquiry, describe the handled material, particle size and the direction of movement across the plate. Add whether impact, sliding or a combination dominates, together with the equipment drawing. Typical discussions include protective plates in process and material-handling equipment; suitability is reviewed for the actual duty.

Inspection requirements can include profile and hole-position checks, material identification and hardness testing to the agreed specification. Wear-life comparisons should be based on comparable operating conditions and measured wear, not a fixed number of months copied from another installation.
