Material properties:
SAE4140 alloy structural steel is a high-strength steel, a 400 series martensitic stainless steel, mainly composed of chromium, molybdenum, manganese, silicon, and carbon. It has excellent strength and toughness and is suitable for manufacturing mechanical parts that require high strength, high rigidity, and high wear resistance. 1. Strength: The tensile strength of AISI 4140 is approximately 850 to 1000 MPa, and the yield strength is approximately 680 to 850 MPa. This makes it have very high tensile and yield strength; 2. Hardness: AISI 4140 can achieve high hardness through heat treatment. After quenching and tempering treatment, its hardness can reach 30 to 36 HRC (Rockwell hardness); 3. Machinability: AISI 4140 has good machinability and can be used for welding, heat treatment, and cutting. It also has high thermoplasticity and can change shape through thermoplastic deformation; 4. Heat resistance: AISI 4140 can maintain good strength and hardness at high temperatures. This makes it suitable for applications in high-temperature working environments, such as the oil and gas industry; 5. Impact strength: AISI 4140 has good impact strength and can resist impact and vibration loading. This makes it highly suitable for applications that require resistance to impact and vibration, such as mechanical engineering and transportation industries; 5. Corrosion resistance: AISI 4140 has moderate resistance to most general corrosive environments. However, in some strong acid or alkali environments, it may be corroded.
