Our HFBR-4501 to HFBR-4511 POF cable assembly is a finished simplex plastic optical fiber connection for industrial equipment using Versatile Link-type Tx/Rx interfaces. It uses one 1.0 mm POF channel with a gray 4501-form connector at one end and a blue 4511-form connector at the other.
We manufacture the assembly from cable jacketing and length control through termination, crimping, fiber-end finishing and final assembly. Standard 1 m, 2 m and 3 m drawings are available, with custom configurations for OEM and industrial projects.

The supplied product is the complete HFBR POF cable assembly. Our manufacturing scope covers 1.0 mm POF cable construction, cutting, connector assembly, metal-ring crimping, fiber-end finishing and final assembly.
The standard construction uses 1.0 mm PMMA POF with a 2.2 mm black PE jacket. The upstream POF material is from the Mitsubishi Chemical ESKA / SUPER ESKA SK 1.0 mm material family, while the jacketed cable and final assembly are manufactured as our finished product.
This manufacturing scope allows the cable itself to be adapted when a project requires a different length, jacket, OD, mechanical structure or accessory arrangement.

HFBR-4501 and HFBR-4511 identify the standard simplex, non-latching Versatile Link connector form. In the Broadcom system, HFBR-4501Z is gray and HFBR-4511Z is blue. The colors support Tx/Rx identification; the POF itself is not directional.

Both HFBR-4501 / 4511 and HFBR-4501Z / 4511Z naming appear in equipment documentation and the market. Actual port geometry and equipment interface should therefore be checked rather than using the “Z” suffix alone.
Where higher connector retention is required, latching simplex interfaces such as HFBR-4503 / HFBR-4513 may be considered instead.
Bare-fiber transmission loss, jacketed-cable attenuation, connector or adapter coupling loss, and complete cable-assembly loss are different measurements and should not be used interchangeably.
Our current finished-assembly drawings specify:
These are assembly values under the related drawing test condition, not generic cable attenuation in dB/m.
The assembly also has no universal maximum transmission distance or data rate. System reach depends on the transmitter, receiver, POF attenuation, connector/end-face loss, wavelength, temperature, data rate and required link margin. Equipment-level conditions should be checked for longer or performance-critical links.
Different fiber grades, jacket materials and mechanical structures can be used with a 1.0 mm POF interface. These choices affect temperature capability, flame behavior, chemical resistance, tensile performance and optical characteristics.
Our standard drawing uses a 2.2 mm PE-jacketed cable. For other environments, we can develop configurations around the required OD, jacket and structure. Industry implementations of the same 4501/4511 interface include PVC, polyamide, cross-linked PE and reinforced constructions, providing practical directions for flame-retardant, chemical-resistant, higher-temperature or mechanically reinforced projects.
Final performance is confirmed against the actual material and finished assembly. Connector temperature alone does not establish the operating temperature of the complete assembly, and V-0 connector material and VW-1 cable ratings apply to different objects.
HFBR-4501 / HFBR-4511 POF connections are used in factory automation, industrial networking and fieldbus, power electronics control, high-voltage isolation, and protection and control communication.
ABB REF542plus documentation identifies a gray HFBR-4501 Tx interface and a blue HFBR-4511 Rx interface for SPABUS plastic-fiber communication. ABB SPACOM/SPA documentation also shows HFBR-4501/4511 in POF protection links.
These examples demonstrate the interface’s industrial use, but compatibility and permitted link length remain equipment-specific. For replacement or new projects, the port type, required length and system conditions should be checked together.
For OEM, maintenance and project requirements, we can configure:
If your equipment uses an HFBR-4501 / HFBR-4511 interface, send the required length, equipment model or port information, operating environment and quantity. We can confirm the suitable POF cable assembly configuration and prepare a standard or custom manufacturing solution.
