1.Product Introduction Gold Ore Processing Equipment
Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) equipment refers to the diverse range of tools, machinery, and devices used by individuals or small groups to extract gold from secondary (alluvial) or primary (hard rock) deposits. ASGM is a vital global livelihood, supporting over 15 million people, though it often operates in informal settings.
2.Application Gold Ore Processing Equipment
ASGM equipment is utilized across every stage of production, from initial excavation to the final pour:
Extraction: Tools used to dig and move gold-bearing ore. This ranges from manual picks and shovels to basic winches and pulleys used in underground shafts.
Crushing and Grinding: To release gold trapped in hard rock, ore must be pulverized. Equipment includes manual hammers, stone mortars, and small-scale mechanized jaw crushers or ball mills.
Washing and Concentration: Utilizing gravity to separate heavy gold from lighter sand and silt. Common tools include gold pans, sluice boxes (lined with carpets or riffles), and shaking tables.
Amalgamation and Recovery: Historically, miners mix liquid mercury with gold ore to form an amalgam. The amalgam is then heated to vaporize the mercury, leaving behind raw gold.
Mercury-Free Alternatives: Due to the severe health risks of mercury, international efforts promote centrifugal concentrators and borax smelting (direct smelting), which allow for high recovery without toxic emissions.
3.Working Principle Gold Ore Processing Equipment
The effectiveness of ASGM equipment relies on fundamental physical and chemical principles:
Gravity Separation: This is the most common principle. Since gold is much denser than common minerals (specific gravity of ~19.3 vs. ~2.6 for quartz), equipment like sluices and pans uses water flow to wash away lighter waste while the gold settles at the bottom.
Mechanical Comminution: Crushing and grinding use impact and attrition forces to reduce ore size, increasing the surface area and "freeing" the gold for capture.
Amalgamation (Traditional): Mercury selectively wets gold particles to form a solid-liquid alloy. Because mercury’s boiling point (357°C) is significantly lower than gold’s, heating the alloy causes the mercury to transition to gas.
Centrifugal Force (Modern): Centrifugal concentrators rotate at high speeds, applying multiple "G-forces" to the ore. This magnifies the density difference, allowing even microscopic gold flakes to be trapped efficiently.
