Rotary drum dryer for fly ash
1.Product Introduction
A Rotary Drum Dryer for fly ash is highly efficient thermal equipment specifically designed to dry fine, powdery industrial by-products like coal fly ash. Since wet fly ash (often from pond storage) contains high moisture that causes clumping, this dryer uses advanced internal seals and flight designs to handle the ultra-fine powder, reducing moisture levels to under 1% while strictly preventing dust leakage.
2.Application
Concrete & Cement Industry: Drying fly ash to be used as a high-performance pozzolanic additive in ready-mix concrete and blended cement.
Geopolymers & Construction Materials: Processing dry fly ash for the production of eco-friendly bricks, blocks, and lightweight aggregates.
Plastics & Rubber Fillers: Utilizing ultra-fine dry fly ash as a functional filler material in polymers and coatings.
Waste Utilization: Transforming wet ponded fly ash from power plants into valuable, marketable commercial products.
3.Working Principle
The dryer operates on a continuous, tightly sealed heat exchange mechanism:
Feeding: Wet fly ash is metered into the upper end of a slightly inclined, rotating drum. Specialized sealing at the feed inlet prevents the fine powder from escaping.
Fluidized Drying: Inside the drum, unique lifting flights and anti-sticking devices lift and shower the fly ash, creating a dense, uniform curtain of material. Hot air from a burner passes through the drum, rapidly evaporating the moisture from the fine particles.
Discharge & High-Efficiency Collection: The dried fly ash travels to the lower end and is discharged. Because fly ash is extremely fine, the exhaust system is equipped with high-capacity cyclones and baghouse dust collectors to completely capture the dry ash from the airflow, ensuring zero product loss and clean emissions.
